September 3, 2013
The Bennington Township regular board meeting was called to order by
Supervisor Lee Ash on September 3, 2013, 7:00pm at the Township Hall.
Present: Jim Forsythe, Cindy Garber, Lee Ash, Nancy
Zdunic, Donna Ash.
L. Ash moved approve the agenda with additions. Second
by Forsythe. Motion carried.
Zdunic moved to approve the minutes for the August 5,
2013 regular board meeting at printed. Second by Forsythe. All board
members in favor. Motion carried.
L. Ash moved to approve the Treasurer’s report as
presented. Second by Forsythe. All board members in favor. Motion
carried.
Forsythe moved to pay bills as presented in the amount
of $73,693.37. Second by Zdunic. All board members in favor. Motion
carried.
Public Comment:
John Hurd- Commented that the residents south of
Bennington Road paid more for ambulance service, and Guy Hubbard
mentioned at the last meeting that SSESA lends out the extra Ambulance,
why does SSESA do this? The extra ambulance should be kept at SSESA I
case it is needed.
Frank Gregory- Asked if Hibbard Road between the two
Morrice Road is shared because it is need of repair.
Supervisor Ash stated that this section of Hibbard Road was
shared with Owosso Township.
Board Reports:
Library- Humphrey- Minutes on file.
Co Comm- Jeff Bartz- Update.
Plan Comm- D. Ash- Reviewed text amendments to the
Wind Energy Ordinance.
Roads- L.Ash- Road projects are complete. Discussion
of brush cutting and spraying within the Township.
This will be a discussion for next year projects.
Web Page- Forsythe- Update.
Unfinished Business:
Basketball Court Lines- The lines are not straight and
need to be fixed. L. Ash is waiting on a response from the builders.
New Business:
SATA Contract- Forsythe moved to accept the contract
with SATA for service from October 1, 2013 – September 30, 2014 at a
cost not to exceed $14,456.50. Second by Garber. All board members in
favor. Motion carried.
Cemetery Transfer Deed Fee- Look into what other
Townships charge.
Baby Burial Fee- Zdunic moved to charge $350.00 for a
baby opening and closing fee on a weekday and $400.00 on a weekend.
Second by Forsythe. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Cremation Fee- Zdunic moved to change the fee for
cremation burial to $100.00. Second by L. Ash.
All board members in favor. Motion carried.
L-4029- Forsythe moved to levy millage for December
2013 at a rate of 0.8672 for operating, 1.0 for fire, and 0.15 for SATA.
Second by Garber. All board
members in favor. Motion carried.
Forsythe moved to adjourn. Second by L.Ash. Motion carried.
