The polls in Michigan are open from 7:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. Bennington Township offers 9 days of in person voting every election.
Picture ID

Effective November 6, 2007, picture ID is required to vote or the voter must sign an affidavit attesting that they are not in possession of picture identification.

Absent Voter Ballot

An absentee ballot is available to you for no reason.

Absentee ballots are available by submitting an application or by written request. A voter wishing to vote by absentee ballot may do so up to and including Election Day.

Voter Registration Opportunity

In Person – Bennington Township Clerk’s Office, Monday’s from
10:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. at the Bennington Township Hall 5849 S. M-52, Owosso.

Mail-In – Voter registration forms are available on-line, and at the Township Clerk’s Office.

Any Secretary of State’s Office – Young adults may register to vote before they are eighteen (18), if they will be eighteen years old by the date of the election in which they wish to vote.

Important Notice: Michigan Law requires that the same address be used for voter registration and driver’s license purposes. Therefore, if the residence address you provide when registering to vote differs from the address shown on your Michigan driver’s license or personal identification card, the Secretary of State will automatically update your driver’s license or personal identification card address and mail you an address update sticker for your driver’s license or personal identification card.

When to Register: Voters may register in person, by mail, or online up to 15 days prior to an election. Voters may also register in person with their local clerk within 14 days of an election, up to and including Election Day. A voter registering in the final 14 days, including Election Day, will need to show proof of residency in addition to proof of identity (or an ID that proves both). Only voters registering in the final 14 days must show proof of residency while registering.

Sample Ballot

Prior to the Election, a sample ballot will be available for viewing at the Bennington Township office and should also be printed in the local newspaper.

When available, you may view the images of the sample ballot below.

Voters will be able to use this sample to become more aware of which proposals and/or candidates will appear on the ballot and be prepared to vote at the polls on the day of elections. You may carry a copy of the sample ballot with you into the voting booth.

Early Voting

Michigan voters have the right to cast a ballot early and in person at an early voting site before Election Day.

Early voting will be available beginning with the presidential primary in 2024 and every statewide and federal election thereafter.

The in-person early voting for an election will begin the second Saturday before an election and end the Sunday before the election.
