March 7, 2016
The Bennington Township regular board meeting was called to order by
Supervisor Lee Ash on March 7, 2016, 7:00pm at the Township Hall.
Present: Jim Forsythe, Cindy Garber, Lee Ash, Nancy Zdunic, Donna
Ash.
Forsythe moved to approve the agenda as printed.
Seconded by Zdunic. Motion carried.
Forsythe moved to approve the minutes for the February
1, 2016 regular board meeting as printed. Seconded by L. Ash. All board
members in favor. Motion carried.
L. Ash moved to approve the Treasurer’s report as
presented. Seconded by Forsythe. All board members in favor. Motion
carried.
Forsythe moved to pay bills as presented in the amount
of $25,638.98. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Public Comment: None
Shiawassee County Road Commission – Managing Director
Brent Friess, Commissioner John Michalec, and Commissioner Mike Constine
present to give an annual report. Reviewed the recommended projects for
2016.
County Commissioner Jeff Bartz gave an update.
Board Reports:
Plan Comm –
D. Ash – Recommended approval for two land divisions and reappointment
of two commission members.
L. Ash moved to concur with the Planning Commission and approve the Land
Division Application for Matthew Dutcher of 5307 Morrice Rd., Owosso, MI
48867, Parcel #010-01-300-005 located at 810 W. Bennington Rd., Owosso,
MI 48867 creating a 1.29 area parcel with remaining property of 18.7
acres, note that the 18.7 acre parcel may not result in a buildable
parcel. Seconded by Garber. Motion carried. L. Ash moved to concur with
the Planning Commission and approve Land Division Application,
PLD16-0007, by Matthew A. Dutcher of 5307 Morrice Rd., Owosso, MI 48867,
Parcel #78-010-25-400-001 located at 7595 Gale Rd., Morrice, MI 48857
creating a 2.44 acre parcel with remaining property of 92.56 acres.
Seconded by Zdunic. Motion carried. Forsythe moved to concur with the
Planning Commission recommendation and reappoint Bill Nash and Rod
Harmon to the Planning Commission for a three year terms expiring April
2019. Seconded by Garber. Motion carried.

Operating
Millage – Reviewed wording and will finish taxable amount with the
most current number after the Board of Review meets.
Ambulance
Special Assessment – Not ready for review.
Consumers
Energy Street Lights – All current lights will remain and will
request maintenance to improve the light. Zdunic moved to install a
street light at the Township Hall south entrance on M-52, on the corner
of Morrice Rd. and Bennington Rd. and on the corner of Morrice Rd. and
Hibbard Rd. with LED 72W Cobra lights at a cost of approximately $345.00
each. Seconded by Forsythe. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
New Business:
Remonumentation
– Forsythe moved to contribute $1,000.00 to the Shiawassee County
Surveyor for additional remonumentation in Bennington Township. Second
by L. Ash. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
M.A.G.N.E.T.
– Letter received requesting a contribution. Hold letter for a
representative at Township meeting.
Township Clean
Up Day – May 7, 2016, 8:00am – 12:00noon, services provided by
Premier Waste Services at a cost of $750.00 per truck. Garber moved to
allow for up to $100.00 advertising per paper in the Argus Press and the
Independent. Seconded by L. Ash. All board members in favor. Motion
carried.
Forsythe moved to adjourn. Seconded by Zdunic. Motion carried.
