March 3, 2014
The Bennington Township regular board meeting was called to order by
Supervisor Lee Ash on March 3, 2014, 7:00pm at the Township Hall.
Present: Jim Forsythe, Cindy Garber, Lee Ash, Donna
Ash. Not Present: Nancy
Zdunic.
L. Ash moved to approve the agenda as printed. Second
by Garber. Motion carried.
Forsythe moved to approve the minutes for the February
3, 2014 regular board meeting as printed. Second by L. Ash. All board
members present in favor. Motion carried.
L. Ash moved to approve the minutes for the February
5, 2014 special board meeting with the correction of the spelling of Ben
Glardon. Second by Forsythe. All board members present in favor. Motion
carried.
L. Ash moved to approve the Treasurer’s report as
presented. Second by Forsythe. All board members present in favor.
Motion carried.
L. Ash moved to pay bills as presented in the amount
of $20,521.29. Second by Forsythe. All board members present in favor.
Motion carried.
Public Comment:
John Hurd- Asked if either Ben Glardon or the
Lieutenant Governor were residents? No neither are residents.
Shiawassee County Road Commission- Managing Director
Dean Welte, Commissioners Mike Constine, John Michalec, Stephen Zemcik,
and Superintendent Brent Friess were all present to discuss the 2014
Road Improvement projects and to give an update of the Road Commission.
County Commissioner Jeff Bartz- Update
Board Reports:
Library- Minutes are on file.
Plan Comm- D. Ash- Reviewed one application for pond
construction.
Roads-L. Ash- Discussed already.
Web Page- Forsythe- Update.
Unfinished Business: None
New Business:
Fire Millage- Forsythe moved to approve a ballot
proposal to be placed on the August ballot requesting the approval for
fire millage at the rate of two mills for ten years beginning in 2014.
Second by L. Ash. All board members present in favor. Motion carried.
SATA Millage- Garber moved to approve a ballot
proposal to be placed on the August ballot requesting the approval for
SATA (Shiawassee Area Transportation Agency) millage at the rate of
0.3333 mills for four years beginning in 2014. Second by L. Ash. All
board members present in favor. Motion carried.
Cemetery Mowing- L. Ash moved to approve the 2014 bid
from Munro Enterprise, L.L.C. to mow the Townships three cemeteries at a
cost of $325 per mow and also a cost of $800 for spring clean up and
$325 for spring rolling of lawns. Second by Garber. All board members
present in favor. Motion carried.
Remonumentation- L. Ash moved to approve the
additional remonumentation within the Township at a cost of $1000.00.
Second by Forsythe. All board members present in favor. Motion carried.
Lawn Mower- L. Ash moved to place the Township lawn
mower up for sealed bids to be received by April 7, 2014, 7:00pm to be
opened at the meeting held on April 7, 2014 with the right to refuse all
bids. Second by Garber. All board members present in favor. Motion
carried.
2014 – 2015 Meeting Dates- Forsythe moved to approve
the 2014 – 2015 regular meeting dates with regular meetings being held
on the first Monday of each month except in September when the meeting
will be held on Wednesday September 3, 20124, with all meetings
beginning at 7:00pm at the Township Hall. Second by L. Ash.
All board members present in favor. Motion carried.
There will be a special meeting held on March 26,
2014, 6:00pm at the Township Hall to approve year end bills, end of year
budget changes and the 2014 – 2015 Budget proposal.
L. Ash moved to adjourn. Second by Forsythe. Motion carried.
