The Bennington Township Board Meeting was called to order by Supervisor Lee Ash on July 9, 2012, 7:00pm at the Township Hall.
Present: Jim Forsythe, Cindy Garber, Lee Ash, Nancy Zdunic, Donna Ash.
Forsythe moved to approve the agenda with additions. Second by Zdunic. Motion carried.
Forsythe moved to approve the minutes for the June 4, 2012 regular meeting as presented. Second by Garber. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Zdunic moved to approve the Treasurer’s report as presented. Second by L. Ash. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Zdunic moved to pay bills as presented in the amount of $101,400.76. Second by Garber. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Public Comment:
Tom Emery – Candidate for Prosecuting Attorney.
Tom Dignan – Candidate for Family and Probate Judge.
Board Reports:
Library – No Meeting.
Plan Comm – D. Ash – Recommended a re-zoning request for approval. Forsythe moved to concur with the Planning Commission and approve the re-zoning request for Brad Faber/Eddie Louch on parcel 78-010-10-100-001-01 from M-1 to B-2 and a portion of parcel 78-010-10-100-001-00 from A-2 to B-2. Second by L. Ash. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Roads – L. Ash – Update.
Web Page – Forsythe – Update. L. Ash moved to continue the web page at a cost of $10.87 for the web site address and $22.00 for the web site hosting for one year. Second by Zdunic. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
MTA – Zdunic – Update. Discussion of Code Red.
Unfinished Business:
Bench in Cemetery – Joseph and Barbara Niemi – Forsythe moved to grant permission to Joseph and Barbara Niemi to place a bench in Oakwood Cemetery at the Passanault grave at a cost to the owner for a base for the bench and the knowledge that if the bench is ever in disrepair it will be removed by the Township. Second by Zdunic. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
SATA- Forsythe moved to contract with Shiawassee
Area Transportation Agency at a cost not to exceed $16,374.40 for
service October 1, 2012 to September 30, 2013 with payment being made
for the .15 mills and the remainder to be paid out of general fund.
Second by Garber. All
board members in favor.
Motion carried.
SSESA
Contract – Has not been received yet.
New Business:
Consumers Energy – Discussion by the board as to the advantages of switching to natural gas. L. Ash will obtain some additional information.
Kickin’ Asphalt – Obtain additional bids for repairs to the Township parking lot and the Cemetery drives.
Cemetery Tree – Forsythe moved to approve up to $500.00 for the removal of a tree in Oakwood Cemetery. Second by Zdunic. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Zdunic moved to adjourn. Second by Forsythe. Motion carried.
