The Bennington Township regular board meeting was called to order by Supervisor Lee Ash on May 2, 2011, 7:00pm at the Township Hall.
Present: Jim Forsythe, Cindy Garber, Lee Ash, Nancy Zdunic, Donna Ash.
Forsythe moved to approve the agenda as printed. Second by L. Ash. Motion carried.
Forsythe moved to approve the minutes for the April 4, 2011 as printed. Second by Garber. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Zdunic moved to approve the treasurer’s report as presented. Second by L. Ash. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Forsythe moved to pay bills as presented in the amount of $13,471.41. Second by Zdunic. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Public Comment:
Frank Gregory- Commented that the minutes make him look dumb that the name of his road was spelled wrong in his public comment.
John Hurd- Commented that the flag was in need of being changed and that he would prefer if there was no flag to a torn flag.
Deputy Duffield- Sheriffs department update.
Richard Ross- (not present) Requested that the materials that he had sent regarding the Shiawassee County 9/12 Commission be entered in as public comment.
Board Reports:
Library- Minutes on file.
Plan Comm- D. Ash- Approved an SUP, appointed members and elected officers, Vice Chair, Dick Demerly and Secretary Bill Nash. Forsythe moved to concur with the Township Planning Commission and approve the Special Use Permit for Cellere on behalf of Verizon Wireless to construct a wireless tower on the property 78-010-27-300-001-00, with the condition that a surety bond be placed on file with Bennington Township in the amount of ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00) prior to construction. Second by Trustee Nancy Zdunic. All board members in favor. Motion carried. L. Ash moved to concur with the Township Planning Commission and reappoint Bernard Scollen and Russell Thomas to the Planning Commission for a three year term ending April 2014. Second by Garber. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Roads- L. Ash- Received a new price list form the county. Discussion to check who was the bidder for chip and seal. Forsythe moved to asphalt the north end of Waugh Road at a cost of $46,700.00. Second by Garber. All board members in favor. Motion carried.

SSESA Contract- Not received a signed copy yet.
New Business:
Consumers Energy- Received a letter form Consumers Energy regarding the changes to the street lights. Zdunic moved to have the street lights changes to the newer energy efficient lights as the lights were in need of replacing at no cost to the Township. Second by L. Ash. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Lawn Mower Bids- Three bids were received to purchase the Township lawn mower. Forsythe moved to sell the Township lawn mower to the highest bidder, Gerald Galesk, at the bid of $4,331.00. Second by Zdunic. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
MI Farmers Market- L. Ash moved to approve the renewal of the annual membership of the Township to the Michigan Farmers Market Association at a cost of $75.00. Second by Forsythe. All board members in favor. Motion carried.
Forsythe moved to adjourn. Second by D. Ash. Motion carried.
